This is just my own list of tips and tricks that I have found effective for getting rid of writer's block :)
(1) Read the dictionary - You probably think this is strange and weird, which it is, but you'd be surprised at how the descriptions and words can get your creative juices flowing.
(2) Play in the wind and rain - Again, you probably think me strange for putting this on the list, but it works. It gives you that dramatic feeling and even if it doesn't give you a complete idea, it will clear your head so you can have a fresh start.
(3) Look at dance pictures - I found this helps mostly when you do the pictures from plays so that they're wearing costumes. It just helps get the imagination running.
(4) Read a book - Whenever I read books, it rarely happens that I don't come up with my own plot. In fact, I don't think I've had one time when it hasn't happened.
(5) Listen to music - Songs often have stories in them. Singers are also writers, just they write through their mouths instead of their hands.
(6) Try taking one of your old ideas and somehow put it into your stories plot - This works very well for me because whenever I just get a small idea I write it on paper and put it in a shoebox. Which leads me to number 7.
(7) Whenever ideas do pop into your head, be sure to write them down as soon as possible for future reference - Mostly for times when you have writer's block.
Well, that's all for this list. I hope you find this helpful and be sure to stick around for my next post. Thanks :D - Anna
Love these tips, thanks for posting them!! Reading a dictionary for inspo may sound strange at first, but I agree that it helps, and of course you're building your vocab. ;) Helpful post, thanks for sharing :)
